Valentino Spring Couture

Nononono... just YUK! Valentino's designers tried to bring an Avatar-element in the show this time, but have they succeeded to keep up with Valentino's ever bright name in the fashion world? Far from it, if you ask me. See, not everything can be beautiful, let's thank Valentino for the reminder...

All eyes on Paris

As my title proudly presents, the fashion world is turning to Paris for the following weeks. We 've seen Saab, Gaultier, Givenchy, Dior, Hash, Chanel and Alexis Mabille. (beneath) And more are coming! This is what I love about those periods of the year where the codes of fashion are written in invisible stones of glamour while fashion shows are presented. Alexis Mabille was turning to geometry for Spring, his mathematical shapes were craftfully formed and came together into original pieces of work. Lining and color blocking became important elements of this year's collection.




Do you like Cruella De Vil? Well let's look at Dior's Bloody Maryish theme for Spring Couture 2010... The collection consists in dark and fairyish beauty. Like always, John Galliano knows how to make Dior one of the most refined fashion houses the world has known. (or will ever know) Look at that decoration! Look at that glamour, elegance and style! Not to mention the beauuuuuty!! Dior will always have my admiration and adoration, as one of the most worthy of all fashion houses...

Spring couture commences...

Hi guys!

I guess we can say the Spring couture period has finally come to present itself. High Fashion designers like Karl Lagerfeld (see below), Givenchy and (as here presented Gaultier) start to show their Spring 2010 couture collections.
Here's Gaultiers Spring Couture show; I think it's surprisingly beautiful, even more than previous shows!





Surprising were the headpieces, and the southern- and Aztec influences we saw. See-through dresses with exotic patterns and outfits that go way out of proportion have a certain extravagant 'presence'. But as Style.com rightfully writes: Gaultier had a conquistador moment, he didn't fully use his potentail when at tailoring. Never the less impressing as a whole...
I WILL be back for more, as the couture collection now comes out all the more!!!

Exciting! Chanel Spring Couture

OMG! Here it is, Chanel Couture for Spring! This has added up to 6 shows each year. We knew that Lagerfeld was a miracleworker, but this is a more than succeeded mission impossible, YET another... Lagerfeld said it was the first time in his whole career he didn't put ONE golden button in the show. Gold is out, he decided prominently, silver is in. Hard to keep track of course, but that's what we, as haute couture-lovers, like so much about fashion. It never stands still, even for the slightest while.
The show was a mix of romanticism (with its heart-shaped cartoonish hair) and space age. (cf. the silver gloves and neckpieces) 'Futurism!', suggested someone backstage, but Karl didn't agree. 'I don't like the idea of thinking to much straight ahead, fashion is always now', he said self-assured. We saw cocoony bubbles and liquid togas and in many places the jewelry seemed to melt into the structure, inseperable from the lines of these fine pieces of work. As I already said, another King Lagerfeld Miracle. Now we can sit back, all contented and eager for the next show...

I'm typing this sooooo fast, because I hadn't any time today, and now I still haven't. But I want to keep up to my 'every day'-writing promise, so here it is^^ Reason I had no time? Had to go to a school talking thing, sort of mouvement where you can have endless debates on God knows what.

Eyes wide open at the SAG awards

The first thing to say about the Screen Actors Guild this year is that Alexander McQueen must have cheered himself a headache: we saw Anna Paquin wearing one of his Spring bug/alien dresses, not to mention Sandra Bullock with a stunning black/purple classy gown, also made by this young British designer.



But that's not all: Kate Hudson looked smoking! She wore Emilio Pucci with Cartier jewels and had the appearance of an ice goddess or a snow Queen. Stunning!



And what about Meryl Streep! I think we can say her style 's advanced, she now wore a green/white flowery Balenciaga dress instead of her black Chris March she had for the globes. Way to go, Meryl!



And these are only a few of tens of beautiful, elegant appearances. Who knew the SAG-awards this year would represent such glamour?
